Call for Art - deadline December 12, 2025

MACAA invites members to submit work for the 2026 Members Hybrid Exhibition, held in conjunction with the upcoming conference Resonance: Collaboration in Practice and Theory,  hosted by the Art + Design Department at Eastern Illinois University (EIU). The exhibition will be hosted in a virtual gallery, with an optional in-person component at the Glenn Hild Gallery at EIU. All media are welcome - there are no thematic restrictions, as the theme will emerge through the juror’s selections. 

Important Dates

  • Submission Deadline: December 15, 2025

  • Notice of Acceptance: February 10, 2026

  • In-Person Exhibition: March 23–28, 2026, Glenn Hild Gallery, EIU

  • Virtual Exhibition Launch: March 26, 2026

  • Juror Talk & Awards Announcement: Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM

Student Applicants

Undergraduate and graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply. Student membership is free. One applicant will be selected for the Student Award.

To apply as a student:

  • Submit your work to the form linked below. 
  • Email a copy of your Spring 2026 class schedule to submitmacaa@gmail.com.
  • In the body of the email, state that you are applying as a student to waive the membership fee.

Juror Talk & Awards

All works in the exhibition will be selected by juror Sage Dawson. Three awards will be announced during the Keynote Speaker Talk at the conference. All applicants - regardless of acceptance into the exhibition - will receive a link to attend the keynote and awards presentation.

Awards:

  • Juror’s Selection: $100

  • Honorable Mention: $50

  • Student Award: $50


About the Juror


Sage Dawson is an artist and curator whose work examines the politics of housing and labor to the American city. She teaches at Washington University in St. Louis and is the Founder and Co-director at STNDRD (Granite City, Illinois) and NON STNDRD (Sauget, Illinois). Sage has exhibited, lectured, and presented work at various sites including the Center for Contemporary Printmaking Norwalk, NARS Foundation, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Project Space/Printed Matter, Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Tate Exchange, Counterpublic Triennial, and the International Print Center New York. Her work has appeared in Art in America, Elephant Magazine, From Here to There published by Princeton Architectural Press, New Art Examiner, Art in Print, Dwell Magazine, and Hyperallergic.
